ASM Stadium officially opens at Thame United

Thame United FC Stadium

ASM Auto Recycling is proud to announce the official opening of the ASM Stadium, home of Thame United FC in the Hellenic Football League.

Over 1,300 fans turned up on the opening night to witness Thame take on League Two outfit Oxford United, with the professional outfit eventually running out 3-1 winners.

The plans for the multi-million pound stadium at Church Farm in the North of Thame were unveiled in October 2007 and building work was finally completed in late 2010 with the opening match against Oxford in January this year.

Thame manager Mark West, hopes that many of the thousand-strong crowd will choose to use the facilities at the ASM Stadium on a regular basis.

“It was really good playing in front of a large crowd and we really appreciated their support. Hopefully they enjoyed themselves and they might come back to watch us again on a Saturday.”

West’s son, Daniel took part in the contest who is part of the Oxford United first team but that didn’t stop the Thame boss wanting his side to win.

He said: “My son was playing against us and did really well, but obviously I wanted him to lose on the night.”

ASM Auto Recycling looks forward to sponsoring Thame United FC for the foreseeable future, enjoying continued success together.

Save Money with a Salvage Car

If you don’t have a bottomless pit of money then you may well be priced out of the new car market. However, don’t despair as many people are turning to salvage cars as a cost-effective alternative to getting on the road. While the term ‘salvage car’ conjures up images of burnt out, written-off vehicles, many are actually not beyond repair.

Buying and repairing a salvage car can be a very rewarding process and can save you a significant sum of money in the process. Many people believe that a vehicle labelled as a salvage car by an insurance company will be more expensive to repair than the cost of the vehicle itself.

However, the sole purpose of this label is to protect potential buyers so that they are fully aware of the vehicle’s history and any future problems that may occur.

Salvage car parts are readily available and can be purchased at very reasonable rates from specialist outlets. For motoring enthusiasts and experts salvage cars are a great hobby, not to mention a potential investment. In fact many people now specialise in rebuilding salvage cars and resell the vehicle for a vastly increased sum.

It is possible to pick up a bargain at a salvage auction, where many motoring enthusiasts gather to pick up a bargain that most auto dealers will simply not touch. Salvage cars are also readily available online, with full access to the car’s history and images of damage sustained.

Following recent reports of increased used car prices due to the New Year VAT increase, salvage cars are the smart vote for economical motorists. Identifying and repairing a low mileage salvage car is incredibly satisfying!

Take part in an online salvage auction with ASM Auto Recycling, part of the Motorhog online auction. Select from a choice of over 500 cars, vans and bikes for salvage every week. All salvage cars have been inspected by qualified engineers and passed as suitable for legitimate repair.

Welcome to ASM Auto Recycling's Blog

Welcome to the ASM Auto Recycling blog as we seek to provide you with the latest in auto recycling news and industry advice. As one of the UK’s most modern and professional vehicle salvage agents and parts recyclers we are well placed to provide you with money-saving ways to salvage your car and to take advantage of new and innovative car scrappage schemes in 2011.

The ASM blog aims to simplify the topics of vehicle dismantling, scrap metal processing, online salvage auctions and vehicle storage with a collection of guides that improve your overall knowledge of the vehicle recycling industry.

According to the Motor Vehicle Dismantlers’ Association, every year approximately two million new vehicles are registered and a similar number are scrapped due to old age or being written off in a car accident. At the end of their useful life vehicles can be effectively dismantled and used as a source for spare parts.

But why do we bother with end-of-life vehicles? Well, the quantity of used vehicles that end up on the scrapheap equates to over two million tonnes of material to be recovered or disposed of. At present around 1.85 million vehicles are recycled every year in the UK with approximately 80 per cent of waste automotive materials recycled and reused – thus reducing the environmental impact of automotive landfill material.

Over the coming weeks we will provide you with ways to save money with a salvage car, industry news on the growth of the UK car sales market, the increased value of used car prices and more.
